Workiva

I was at Workiva, a financial reporting and compliance software company, for eight years.

Prior to leaving Workiva, I was a key member of the community team for five years where I managed diverse projects ranging from content strategy and event planning to website development. My responsibilities extended to overseeing social media initiatives, thought leadership content creation, conducting surveys, and producing webinars. Prior to that I was a part of the marketing program management and events team.

This page shows the breadth and depth of my experience by highlighting my work in social media, thought leadership content, surveys, and events.

SEC Professionals Group

About
The SEC Professionals Group is a community of in-house professionals who actively prepare and file financial reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The community represents two-thirds of large, public companies. The purpose of the community is to foster communication between members on matters of common professional interest. The group, established by two Workiva founders, operates under the umbrella of the Workiva marketing department.

LinkedIn
I launched the SEC Professionals Group LinkedIn page and oversaw it’s organic growth to 600 followers within 2 years.

Thought leadership
Each year I led the creation of the group’s annual survey and report. This involved developing a strategic survey approach, identifying themes, section structuring, hypothesis formulation, and question drafting. Additionally, I crafted a robust go-to-market plan to promote the survey among members, customers, and accounting professionals.

Upon survey completion, I conducted thorough data analysis, outlining key findings. To bring the insights to life, I managed the entire report production process, including contracting with a freelance writer and designer. This end-to-end involvement ensured a successful and impactful annual survey and report.

Events
Leveraging strong organizational skills and adeptness at managing multiple projects concurrently, I successfully planned 15 in-person, hybrid, and virtual events annually.

  • Content strategy: I collaborated with Product Marketing and Messaging teams to align on topics supporting business goals. Once the topics were defined, I leveraged my extensive network of community members and thought leaders to source speakers. Subsequently, I led calls with presenters, actively guiding the development of session content.
  • Event management: I have extensive experience managing event logistics. Four meeting per year were hybrid with 100 attendees in-person and over 900 virtual attendees. I managed vendor relations with an AV/IT agency who supplied the live video broadcast and equipment. I also negotiated conference space and food & beverage contracts. My experience also includes hosting smaller, intimate roundtables, a format used for women’s leadership events. I also managed the webinar program from ideation to execution to follow-up. Lastly I managed exhibitor contracts at multiple industry trade shows and helped to staff the booths.

Founded in 2015 the group consists of members who are actively involved in documenting, evaluating, and testing internal controls and processes. LinkedIn
I launched the SOX & Internal Controls Professionals Group LinkedIn page and oversaw it’s organic growth to 1,200 followers within 2 years.

Thought leadership
Similar to the SEC Professionals Group, I spearheaded all facets of an annual survey and report that proved to be a top lead generator for Workiva. The report demonstrated robust performance with both paid ads and organic search. Additionally, I fostered regular partnerships with industry thought leaders, including KPMG, to conduct the survey and produce the insightful report.
